Roland celebrates 909 Day 2026 with Detroit workshop and new film

Roland Corporation is celebrating 909 Day 2026 with events centered on the legacy of the TR-909 Rhythm Composer. The celebration includes a live workshop at the Underground Music Academy in Detroit on September 12th, featuring techno pioneer Kevin Saunderson and Roland’s Dustin Good.

The workshop will demonstrate the transition from the original TR-909 to the TR-1000, highlighting the new 9X engines and covering techniques such as sequencing and sound shaping. The session will also be available via a Roland Cloud Academy livestream and on YouTube.

Additionally, Roland will premiere a new installment of its animated series, ‘The Rhythm Creators,’ on September 9th. The film focuses on the TR-909 and features narration by Saunderson.
