Roland González requires urgent surgery after heart attack in Venezuelan prison
Roland González, an individual implicated in the Pdvsa-Cripto case, is facing a critical health crisis following a reported heart attack while detained at the El Rodeo I prison. His whereabouts remained unknown to his family and legal team for several days after authorities claimed he had been transferred to a medical center on August 12, 2026.
His lawyer, Carlos Sotillo Santaniello, reported that the scheduled court hearing for August 14 was suspended due to González's condition. After several days of uncertainty, family members located him at the ‘Sargento Mayor Apascacio Mata’ medical center, a clinic under the Ministry of Interior, Justice and Peace.
According to his brother, Heide Hernández, González is in a weakened state, unable to speak or stand, and requires urgent surgical intervention, specifically a catheterization. The defense and family are urgently requesting that he be moved to a facility capable of providing necessary surgical care rather than being transferred back to the El Rodeo I prison, citing inadequate medical conditions at his current location.
