Roland Kaiser balances family life with health comeback
German schlager star Roland Kaiser, 74, is father to four adult children who are closely involved in his personal and professional affairs. Son Jan, 30, runs distribution for the "Roland Kaiser" merchandise range. Daughter Annalena, 27, co‑heads the artist‑management agency Kaiser & Kaiser with her father. Son Hendrik, 36, works as a chef and also pursues music, while stepson Tim, 38, participates in the family business.
In 2000 Kaiser was diagnosed with COPD, a chronic lung disease he kept private for ten years. In February 2010 he received a double lung transplant at the Medical University of Hannover. Despite doctors’ expectations that he would not return to performing, Kaiser staged a comeback eight months later, appearing on ZDF with Carmen Nebel and continuing to tour in subsequent years.
