Roland Orzabal releases memoir about Tears for Fears and personal life

Tears for Fears frontman Roland Orzabal has released a new memoir titled "Welcome to Your Life: Love, Death and Tears for Fears." The book provides an honest look at his personal life and the band's career.

Orzabal discusses the complexities of his long-term relationship with bandmate Curt Smith and the band's musical legacy, including anecdotal interest from Prince in their multi-layered 1980s sound.

The memoir also addresses deeply personal struggles, including the death of his first wife, Caroline Johnston, following an alcohol-related illness. Orzabal candidly reveals that he fell in love with writer and photographer Emily Rath in 2016 while the band was performing in Colorado, prior to his wife's passing. He describes the difficult decision to move forward after years of watching his wife's health deteriorate.
