Rolando Maran reflects on Cagliari days while guiding Albania's national team

Former Cagliari coach Rolando Maran, now head coach of the Albanian national football team, spoke about his lingering regret over an unfinished season with the Sardinian club. He recalled the dramatic 16 December 2019 match against Lazio, which ended in a 93‑minute equaliser and marked a turning point in his career, eventually leading to his dismissal. Maran highlighted his bond with Cagliari fans and the club’s importance in his life, noting that the experience still influences him.

Maran also described his current role with Albania, praising the talent of players such as Ramadani, Djimsiti, Ismajli, Asllani, Berisha, Shpendi and Sherri. He expressed pride in representing the nation and expects a good performance from the squad. In addition, he mentioned his upcoming participation in the Gigi Riva memorial at the Domus stadium, underscoring his continued connection to Sardinian football culture.
