Rolando Romero and Teofimo Lopez Agree August Welterweight Title Fight

Welterweight champion Rolando Romero has verbally agreed to face former two‑division champion Teofimo Lopez in an August bout, reportedly to be held in Las Vegas. The fight would be Romero’s first defense since his upset win over Ryan Garcia in May 2025 and would put his mandatory defense against Jack Catterall at risk. Lopez, who has not fought since a January loss to Shakur Stevenson, is moving up to welterweight and could become a three‑division world champion with a victory. No contract has been signed and the WBA has not formally waived the Catterall order, but both camps expect terms to be finalized in the coming weeks.
