Rolling Stones Lead Concert Ticket Price Cuts, Prompting Coldplay and Others to Offer £20 Seats
The Rolling Stones launched a “Lucky Dip” scheme offering a limited number of concert tickets for as little as £20, with seats allocated only at the venue. Live Nation’s senior vice‑president of global touring, Jared Braverman, said the move inspired Coldplay to introduce its own £20 “Infinity Tickets,” and prompted Olivia Rodrigo to roll out a similar “Silver Star” program. Charli XCX has also joined the effort, providing low‑cost tickets under comparable terms.
Artists say the initiatives respond to fan backlash over soaring ticket prices, noting that 75% of Gen Z respondents in a Luminate survey identified cost as the main barrier to concerts, a figure that fell to 57% later in the year. The average UK concert ticket price has risen 521% over the past three decades, fueling the push for more affordable options despite the potential revenue loss for performers and promoters.
