Rollins College defeats Lenoir-Rhyne 6-5 in soccer season opener

In a high-scoring season opener, No. 2 ranked Rollins College defeated Lenoir-Rhyne University 6-5. The match, held in Winter Park, Florida, featured a combined 11 goals, marking the highest total for a Lenoir-Rhyne season opener since 2007.

Rollins' Pablo Herrero led the scoring with four goals, including a hat trick in the first half. Lenoir-Rhyne initially took a 2-0 lead following goals from Angelo Paparoupas and Oskar Dahlberg, before Herrero and Finlay Prain helped Rollins take control. Dahlberg scored twice for the Bears, and Xairo Villalon and Hector Taboada scored late to tie the match at 5-5. Sebastian Alvarez eventually secured the victory for Rollins with a goal in the 76th minute.

The game was briefly delayed by heavy rain before kickoff. With this win, Rollins moves to a 1-0 record, while Lenoir-Rhyne falls to 0-1.
