Rollo Robotics launches 1Rollo, the first autonomous single‑wheel security robot

Estonian startup Rollo Robotics unveiled 1Rollo, the world’s first stable single‑wheel autonomous security robot. The monowheel balances on a 60 cm wide wheel using a high‑speed vertical flywheel that creates gyroscopic forces, allowing it to stay upright while moving, stopping or traversing uneven terrain.

The robot is 110 cm tall, weighs about 45 kg and can travel up to 30 km/h (19 mph). It runs for up to eight hours on a charge and automatically returns to a wireless charging station when the battery is low. Its IP65‑rated enclosure lets it operate in rain, dust and temperatures from –20 °C to 55 °C. AI‑driven computer‑vision, 360° cameras, high‑frequency sensors and RTK‑GNSS provide obstacle detection and precise navigation along preset patrol routes in large facilities such as industrial sites, campuses and airports.

Rollo Robotics plans to offer 1Rollo through a Robotics‑as‑a‑Service subscription model, with commercial availability expected next year.
