Rolls-Royce begins global testing for Project Nightingale EV

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has launched a global testing program for Project Nightingale, a highly exclusive, all-electric two-seat convertible from its Coachbuild Collection. Limited to only 100 units, the vehicle is scheduled for customer deliveries in 2028.

The testing phase is one of the most rigorous in the brand’s history, involving 350 collective weeks of validation. Prototypes will be subjected to extreme environments, including the Mediterranean coast, the Arctic Circle, and the Arabian Peninsula, facing temperatures up to 80°C and altitudes reaching 2,750 meters.

Engineering efforts focus on extreme durability and refinement. This includes testing the unique ‘Piano Boot’—a cantilever-style trunk—through 15,000 opening and closing cycles. The vehicle has already undergone 1,430 hours of aerodynamic simulation and wind-tunnel testing to ensure silence and stability at speeds up to 249 km/h. The project draws historical inspiration from the French Riviera, where the brand established its early testing traditions.
