Rolls-Royce CEO Tufan Erginbilgiç faces potential £24.4 million pay package

Rolls-Royce CEO Tufan Erginbilgiç is set to receive a significant increase in his potential annual compensation following shareholder approval of a new incentive package. If specific performance targets are met, Erginbilgiç’s annual earnings could rise from his current £4.4 million to a maximum of £24.4 million.

This shift reflects a broader trend among FTSE 100 companies to adopt American-style compensation models to retain top talent and compete with US-based firms. While FTSE 100 executives averaged £5 million last year, S&P 500 executives averaged approximately £12.2 million.

Other major UK executives are also seeing potential increases linked to performance. Shell CEO Wael Sawan could potentially double his current £13.8 million package, while Unilever’s new CEO Fernando Fernandez could see earnings approach £20 million. AstraZeneca CEO Pascal Soriot is also subject to ongoing discussions regarding new pay policies.
