Rolls-Royce completes environmental and heritage conservation projects

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has announced the completion of three major environmental and cultural conservation projects in collaboration with the Goodwood Estate in West Sussex, UK. The initiatives focus on enhancing local biodiversity, preserving historical sites, and expanding ecological education.

Key achievements include the implementation of mycelium-based eco-friendly fertilizers to improve soil health and reduce reliance on synthetic alternatives. This initiative is integrated into the company’s headquarters expansion project, where one-third of the new site will be dedicated to wildlife protection and biodiversity.

In terms of heritage preservation, Rolls-Royce worked with Historic England and the South Downs National Park authorities to protect ‘Goodwood Trundle,’ a site containing Iron Age and Neolithic remains, from erosion caused by increased visitor numbers. Additionally, the company restored a long-unused pond at Goodwood Home Farm, transforming it into a wildlife habitat and an ecological education center used by the Goodwood Education Trust.

These efforts build upon a long-standing partnership between Rolls-Royce and the Goodwood Estate, which has previously included planting over 60,000 trees and conducting research on rare species like the Barbastelle bat.
