Rolls-Royce to invest £300 million in UK manufacturing
Rolls-Royce has announced a £300 million (approximately $398 million) investment program to strengthen its manufacturing and engineering infrastructure across the United Kingdom. The initiative aims to expand production capacity for both the civil aerospace and defence sectors.
More than £140 million will be allocated to the Derby site, the company’s hub for civil aerospace, to establish new engineering and manufacturing facilities. An additional £90 million is earmarked for the Bristol site, which focuses on military power and propulsion, including support for the Eurofighter Typhoon and the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP). Other investments will target facilities in Glasgow, Rotherham, and Ansty in Warwickshire.
UK Chancellor John Healey noted that the investment would support skilled employment and bolster domestic industrial capacity. This move follows a period of strong financial performance for Rolls-Royce, which reported a significant increase in operating profits driven by high demand in the aerospace and defence segments.
