Rolly Romero vs Teofimo Lopez welterweight title bout set for Aug. 22 in Las Vegas

The WBA welterweight championship will be defended by Rolando “Rolly” Romero against former lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez on August 22 at the T‑Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Romero, the 17‑2 champion who out‑pointed Ryan Garcia in May 2025, is moving up to 147 lb after a 15‑month layoff. Lopez, who lost to Shakur Stevenson in January and is now making his welterweight debut, said Romero could try to emulate Stevenson’s patient, outside‑fighting style.

Former two‑division world champion Tim Bradley, speaking on his YouTube channel, voiced doubt that the fight offers pay‑per‑view value and expected many fans to pirate the event, though he said he would still purchase it. The bout will be broadcast on DAZN and Prime Video as a pay‑per‑view event.
