Rolly Toys to close Neustadt plant, ending 110‑plus jobs by end‑2026

German toy maker Rolly Toys announced that its production facility in Neustadt bei Coburg, Bavaria, will cease operations on 31 December 2026, resulting in the loss of more than 110 jobs. The company had entered self‑administration insolvency proceedings in early 2026 and sought investors, including Dutch and German firms, but negotiations failed. Two other EU‑based interested parties declined to keep production at the Neustadt site.

Rolly Toys cited the loss of its second‑largest customer in 2025, sharply higher energy and material costs since the Ukraine war, competition from cheaper Chinese toys, and US export tariffs as key factors behind the downturn. The brand is expected to survive, but production will move to other locations.

Company head Frank Schneider said, “The production in Neustadt is no longer savable,” adding that the closure marks the end of a piece of toy‑making history.
