Rolong Stanley jailed for fatal drink-driving crash in NSW
Rolong Stanley, a 31-year-old farm worker, has been sentenced to five years in prison for the death of his ex-girlfriend, 42-year-old Justine Hammond. Stanley pleaded guilty to aggravated dangerous driving causing death following a crash near Orange, New South Wales, in February 2025.
During the incident, Stanley was driving a ute that spun out of control and struck a tree on Lake Canobolas Road. Blood-alcohol analysis revealed his level was 0.212, more than four times the legal limit. The crash occurred while Stanley was under an apprehended domestic violence order that prohibited him from drinking or being within 500 meters of Ms. Hammond.
Judge Penny Musgrave of the NSW District Court noted that Stanley was a disqualified driver operating an unregistered vehicle and was in violation of court-ordered restrictions regarding contact with the victim. Stanley was sentenced to a non-parole period of three years and seven months.
