Roma Capitale's Via Santa Croce Purchase Plan Challenged by Investire SGR
Roma Capitale announced a proposal to acquire the building located at via Santa Croce in Rome. The city said the purchase would enable safety works, certification and the preparation of spaces able to host about 120 people within 60‑90 days, with the final price to be set by the tax and property agencies.
Investire SGR, the manager of the public real‑estate fund that holds the property, issued a statement saying that legal and safety conditions do not allow the transfer of possession to the municipality. The firm highlighted that the building has been subject to an illegal occupation for roughly thirteen years, creating civil and criminal liability risks and preventing any interim use before a formal sale.
