Roma cultural integration project connects children in Poland

The project ‘Roma – history and culture, and the present’ has facilitated integration between Roma and non-Roma children through shared educational experiences. The initiative included two preparatory meetings where participants discussed the traditions, history, and daily lives of both the Roma and the residents of the Pieniny region.

Following these discussions, the children participated in a joint trip to Tarnów, Nowy Sącz, and Stary Sącz. A key highlight was a visit to the Ethnographic Museum in Tarnów to view an exhibition on Roma history and culture. The visit was accompanied by Adam Bartosz, an expert in Roma history, who provided context to the museum exhibits, helping children connect with their cultural heritage and understand the historical coexistence of the Bergitka Roma and the Pieniny Highlanders.
