Roma musicians return to street performances in Zakopane

Roma musicians have returned to performing on the Krupówki pedestrian street in Zakopane. The group performs a familiar repertoire, including the song ‘Ona lubi pomarańcze’, and their street performances have recently gained traction on social media.

The return of the band has prompted discussions regarding local regulations. Because the Krupówki area is designated as a Cultural Park, street performers are required to adhere to specific legal requirements and formal permits. While some tourists view the music as part of the local folkloric character, the performances have previously faced opposition from Zakopane authorities and municipal guards.
