Roma Spirit 2026 announces finalists for inclusion awards

The 18th edition of the Roma Spirit awards has announced its finalists, recognizing individuals, organizations, and municipalities that contribute to the inclusion and social cohesion of Roma communities. The awards, organized by the Association for Culture, Education and Communication (ACEC) and Romodrom, highlight efforts in housing, education, employment, and healthcare.

In Slovakia, the municipalities of Rudňany and Vítkovce, along with the city of Prešov, have been named finalists in the Municipality and City category. Rudňany was recognized for improving hygiene, water access, and housing, while Vítkovce was noted for community cooperation projects. Prešov was nominated for its efforts in integrating Roma students from Malý Slivník into its school system.

In the Czech Republic, the awards feature finalists selected from 243 nominations. The ceremony is scheduled to take place on December 10, 2026, at the Hybernia Theatre in Prague, under the patronage of President Petr Pavel. The event aims to showcase Roma culture and stories of mutual respect and equal opportunity.
