Romain Grosjean apologizes to McLaren following misunderstanding

Former Formula 1 driver and Canal+ analyst Romain Grosjean has issued a public apology to McLaren and Team Principal Zak Brown following a misunderstanding during the Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid.

Grosjean had criticized Brown during a live broadcast, claiming the team principal had disparaged Oscar Piastri’s performance in comparison to teammate Lando Norris. Grosjean suggested Brown’s comments were harsh, implying that Brown had characterized Norris as a world champion while effectively devaluing Piastri.

However, the criticism was based on a misinterpretation of an interview Brown gave to F1TV. In the actual interview, Brown praised Norris’s pole position performance while acknowledging that Piastri had performed well but narrowly missed the extra pace required. Grosjean has since clarified that he misunderstood the context of the remarks.
