Roman Córdoba exhibition to feature 95 historical pieces

The exhibition ‘Córdoba Romana, la ciudad oculta’ (Roman Córdoba, the hidden city) is set to open on November 20 at the Sala Vimcorsa, running until February 7, 2027. The showcase will feature 95 pieces from various national and international collections, covering aspects of classical life such as religious practices, imperial cults, entertainment, and water supply.

Key highlights include the Bust of Germanicus from the Louvre, which serves as the official poster image, and an Athlete’s Head potentially belonging to a Ptolemaic king, also from the Louvre. Other notable items include a head of Caligula found in Córdoba and a portion of the Marrubial Treasure, lent by the British Museum.

Curator Desiderio Vaquerizo noted that while more pieces were originally planned, the final count was adjusted to 95 due to recent museum thefts affecting the availability of gold items. The exhibition offers free entry with access granted in groups of 80 people for 30-minute tours.
