Roman Neustädter joins KVC Westerlo coaching staff after retirement

Roman Neustädter, the 38‑year‑old German‑Russian former international, ended his playing contract with KVC Westerlo and announced his retirement from professional football. The club confirmed that he will remain in the Campine region as a member of the coaching staff, taking on a role as one of the assistants to head coach Issame Charaï.

Neustädter arrived at Westerlo in 2021 after leaving Dinamo Moskau and has amassed more than 180 Bundesliga appearances, 29 Champions League matches and three seasons with Fenerbahçe, as well as over 100 matches for the Belgian side. He said the decision to hang up his boots was difficult but feels ready for the new challenge, following in the footsteps of his father, former assistant Peter Neustädter.
