Roman Odeon of Patras reopens for cultural events after restoration

The Roman Odeon of Patras, a monument dating back to the 2nd century AD, has reopened to the public as a venue for cultural events following a comprehensive restoration project. The project, completed by the Ministry of Culture with a budget of 1,410,000 euros funded by the ESPA program, included structural repairs, environmental landscaping, and improved lighting. Notably, it is the only similar structure in Greece with a fully restored stage.

To mark its return to functional use, an artistic program featuring eight musical and theatrical productions will take place from September 15 to September 30. Curated by the National Lyric Stage as part of the ‘All Greece One Culture 2026’ initiative, the schedule includes diverse performances such as ‘Pepla tis’ featuring Savina Giannatou, and musical-theatrical works inspired by artist Angelos Papadimtriou. The site has been designed to ensure accessibility for people with disabilities.
