Roman Ondráček turns 60 amid health struggles and Michal David controversy
Czech presenter and singer Roman Ondráček celebrated his 60th birthday in late June, marking the milestone with plans for a new album slated for July 2026. He first rose to fame as one half of the parody duo Těžkej Pokondr, which sold half a million records and became known for comedic rewrites of popular songs.
Recent months have seen Ondráček grapple with a serious mental health condition that his wife, Nina, says has affected his behaviour. In July 2023 he was involved in a widely reported incident at the launch of singer Michal David’s album, where security removed him from the stage after a verbal altercation. David later commented that he understood Ondráček’s illness and chose not to pursue the matter. Ondráček’s health challenges and the scandal have dominated media coverage alongside his upcoming musical comeback.
