Roman Ondráček turns 60 amid health struggles and Michal David controversy

Czech presenter and singer Roman Ondráček celebrated his 60th birthday in late June, marking the milestone with plans for a new album slated for July 2026. He first rose to fame as one half of the parody duo Těžkej Pokondr, which sold half a million records and became known for comedic rewrites of popular songs.

Recent months have seen Ondráček grapple with a serious mental health condition that his wife, Nina, says has affected his behaviour. In July 2023 he was involved in a widely reported incident at the launch of singer Michal David’s album, where security removed him from the stage after a verbal altercation. David later commented that he understood Ondráček’s illness and chose not to pursue the matter.
