Roman reenactors visit Wilhelmina Children's Hospital in Utrecht
On 5 August, Museumpark Archeon and the living‑history group Legio Secvnda Avgvsta performed a Roman‑themed day for children at the Wilhelmina Kinderziekenhuis (Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital) in Utrecht. The program included music, demonstrations by Roman soldiers, senators, women and gladiators, and hands‑on activities such as trying on helmets and handling shields. The visit was part of the International Roman Festival held at Archeon from 2 to 15 August, which showcases reenactments, gladiator shows and a replica Roman camp.
During the event the children also received a copy of the new “Gouden Boekje” — “Tappo en de Rivier” — presented on behalf of the Dutch Limes Collaboration to mark the five‑year anniversary of the Limes UNESCO World Heritage designation.
