Roman Reigns' role in WWE sparks debate among wrestling legends

WWE Hall of Famer JBL has suggested that Roman Reigns should be utilized as a special attraction rather than a weekly television performer. Discussing Reigns’ recent World Heavyweight Championship defense against Penta in Mexico City, JBL argued that scarcity in appearances makes Reigns’ matches feel more significant, comparing his status to legendary touring attractions from the territory era.

In contrast, wrestling icon Kevin Nash expressed dissatisfaction with recent match psychology. Speaking on the ‘Kliq This’ podcast, Nash stated that a match between Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins at SummerSlam 2026 caused him to stop watching professional wrestling, criticizing the reliance on high-impact moves over psychological storytelling and noting a lack of selling during the bout.

Reigns is currently scheduled to defend his title against LA Knight at Money in the Bank on October 10, 2026.
