Romancecar Museum to host EXE 30th anniversary exhibition

The Romancecar Museum in Kanagawa Prefecture will host a special exhibition titled “EXE Chotto Fushigi na Romancecar” from October 7 to December 7, 2026, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Odakyu 30000 series EXE train.

The exhibition will showcase the history and design philosophy of the EXE, which was introduced in 1996 to accommodate diverse travel needs, including both tourism and daily commuting. Displays will include early design drafts, manufacturing photographs, original pamphlets, and information regarding the “EXEα” renewal.

Accompanying events include a guided tour of the Ebina Train Depot led by the museum director, a quiz rally, and a lecture by the director of the Kyoto Railway Museum regarding 1990s vehicle design. The museum will also host wellness-themed workshops, such as soap making and tea seminars, to highlight the comfort of using the Romancecar for daily travel.
