Romania addresses political instability and declining birth rates
Political and social discourse in Romania is increasingly focused on the disconnect between government actions and the daily realities of citizens, alongside the critical issue of declining birth rates.
Concerns have been raised regarding political instability and the lack of accountability in public decision-making, which can lead to a loss of public trust and social fragmentation. There is a growing sentiment that political disputes often prioritize power over practical solutions for the population.
Addressing the demographic crisis is being framed as a prerequisite for any successful national reform. Proposed measures to combat falling birth rates include a family and fertility strategy, CASS tax exemptions for mothers with children under two, and IVF support for 10,000 beneficiaries annually. Other proposed initiatives include maintaining child increase allowances for parents returning to work early, expanding childcare facilities by 2028, and providing stronger protections against workplace discrimination for mothers.
