Romania addresses road accidents with emergency response and stricter e‑scooter rules

Six people, including two children, were injured in a serious crash on the E70 near Prundu, Teleorman County. Emergency crews from the fire service, SMURD and ambulance teams treated the victims, transporting adults and children to hospitals in Bucharest, Alexandria and the Teleorman County Hospital.

In Dumbrăvița, local officials have submitted a memorandum to the Romanian Parliament calling for urgent changes to e‑scooter legislation. The proposal follows two teenage deaths and a recent injury to a ten‑year‑old, urging measures such as raising the minimum user age to 16, mandatory helmet use, registration and insurance of scooters, a 20 km/h speed limit and fines ranging from 500 to 15,000 lei, with possible confiscation of the device.
