Romania adopts new investment laws to fast‑track EU‑funded mining and infrastructure projects

Romanian Deputy Vice‑President Natalia Intotero is backing a draft law that would transpose the EU Critical Raw Materials Act, creating a single‑window authorisation system and shortening administrative deadlines for strategic mining projects such as the Rovina copper mine, Budureasa magnesium and Baia de Fier graphite. The legislation aims to align national rules with EU regulations, ensure environmental compliance and give priority to local employment.

Interim Development Minister Cseke Attila announced that a newly adopted law on the reception of essential works will support the implementation of projects funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). The law allows up to 95% of project costs to be reimbursed before final connections to public utilities are completed, with the remaining work to be finished within 120 days, potentially unlocking about €560 million for education and development programmes.
