Romania advances political and diplomatic initiatives

Romania is advancing several diplomatic and political initiatives. Siegfried Mureșan has been identified as the country’s designated Prime Minister. In bilateral relations, Romania and the United States are strengthening cooperation regarding human rights, antisemitism, and human trafficking.

President Nicușor Dan is scheduled to attend the High-Level Week of the UN General Assembly. Additionally, Dan has held discussions with President Zelenskyy regarding the acceleration of a joint drone production project under the SAFE Program.

On the security front, the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned the illegal holding of elections for the State Duma of the Russian Federation in occupied territories of Ukraine and the opening of polling stations in the Transnistrian region of Moldova. Meanwhile, Romania will lead the EUTM RCA mission for a fourth consecutive year.
