Romania allocates 150 million lei to emergency medical services

Romanian Health Minister Alexandru Rogobete has announced the reallocation of 150 million lei to fund Emergency Care Units (UPU) and ambulance services across the country. The funding was secured through a responsible reallocation of existing resources, identifying projects where certain mechanisms can be delayed by 30 to 40 days until the next budget rectification without compromising their continuity.

Rogobete stated that the pressure on the emergency medicine system was already extremely high, creating a significant risk of a system deadlock in the event of a major emergency. He emphasized that his priority is to reduce this tension to ensure every patient receiving care in an emergency unit gets the necessary medical attention. The minister noted that budget difficulties must not be allowed to transform into a crisis for the emergency system.
