Romania and Moldova athletes secure medals at European and World championships
Athletes from Romania and Moldova achieved notable success at recent international sporting competitions.
At the U15 and U17 European Weightlifting Championships in Kosovo, Romanian athlete Alexia Șipoș won three gold medals in the 53 kg category, setting two new cadet European records in the snatch and total. Additionally, Maia Delia Andrei secured three gold medals in the 49 kg U17 category. Romania's total medal count at the event reached 15, including 6 gold, 6 silver, and 3 bronze.
Representing Moldova, weightlifter Ecaterina Vîlcu earned a bronze medal in the U17 45 kg category with a total lift of 129 kg. In the kayak-canoe discipline, Moldovan athletes secured two bronze medals at the World University Championships held in Szeged, Hungary, including a podium finish by Stanislav Bănaru.
