Romania announces new educational and cultural funding initiatives

In Romania, two distinct educational and cultural funding initiatives have been announced. The ANIS 2026 Scholarship program has entered the evaluation stage for 57 university projects aimed at integrating emerging technologies into higher education. A total of 105,000 euros will be distributed, with 21 projects set to receive grants of 5,000 euros each. Artificial Intelligence is a primary focus, with 52% of applications falling under 'Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning' or the newly introduced 'AI for All' category, which seeks to integrate AI into non-technical disciplines.

Separately, the ‘Creative Schools’ program for 2026–2027 has allocated one million lei to fund 13 cultural projects for students in Timișoara. These projects, selected from 28 applications, cover areas such as theater, visual arts, journalism, and animation. The program, run by the Timișoara Project Center in partnership with the Administration for Health and Education of Timișoara, has transitioned to a multi-year funding model to allow for longer-term collaborations between schools and cultural organizations.
