Romania announces heating aid and energy supplements for 2026–2027
The National Agency for Payments and Social Inspection (ANPIS) has announced that heating assistance and energy supplements for the 2026–2027 season can be requested starting in October. The heating aid is intended for the cold season from November 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027, covering costs for various energy sources including thermal energy, electricity, natural gas, and solid or petroleum fuels. Eligibility is based on income limits: a monthly net average income of no more than 1,386 lei per family member, or 2,053 lei for single individuals. Additionally, applicants must not possess certain assets or properties that would disqualify them.
The energy supplement is a monthly payment provided throughout the year. Amounts vary by energy source: 30 lei for electricity, 10 lei for natural gas and thermal energy, and 20 lei for solid or petroleum fuels. If electricity is the sole energy source, the supplement reaches 70 lei per month.
Regarding firewood, Romsilva estimates it will provide approximately two million cubic meters of wood for the 2026 season. The average selling price is approximately 280 lei per cubic meter, though prices vary between 200 and 450 lei depending on the species, assortment, and location of purchase. Palletized wood from Romsilva warehouses can cost up to 700 lei per pallet. Residents can purchase wood through local forestry offices or via the Romsilva online store.
