Moldova Ministry of Education begins replacing damaged textbooks

The Ministry of Education and Research in Moldova has launched a redistribution process to replace damaged or missing school textbooks. Following the release of an online reporting form, authorities have received 152 requests concerning 387 textbooks. The highest volume of requests originated from Chisinau, with additional reports from Orhei, Balti, Falesti, Singerei, and Straseni.

In primary education, the most requested subjects are Romanian Language and Literature and Mathematics. For middle school students, requests have focused on Mathematics, Romanian Language and Literature, and Physics. Galina Rusu, the Secretary General of the Ministry, stated that the educational system maintains a reserve of over 600,000 textbooks to ensure efficient use and to cover needs arising from student transfers or damaged materials.

The Ministry confirmed that the online reporting form will remain available to allow parents, students, and teachers to continue flagging issues such as torn, dirty, or incomplete books. During the 2025-2026 school year, approximately 16,000 textbooks have already been redistributed to various institutions.
