Romania approves 9th-grade textbooks for 63 subjects

Romania's Minister of Education and Research, Mihai Dimian, has approved winning school textbooks for 63 subjects for the 9th grade following a tender process. While these subjects have been cleared, nine other disciplines remain subject to appeals, with procurement for those continuing once disputes are resolved.

Dimian noted that the procurement duration was reduced from a ten-month average to approximately seven months. To support students and teachers during the transition, the ministry has provided support materials and made previous textbooks available, as their content partially covers current curricula.

Regarding future planning, the minister requested that documentation for 10th-grade textbook procurement be prepared by the end of this month to ensure materials reach high schools by August 2027, emphasizing the need for predictability in educational resources.
