AUR leads Romanian political polls amid new legislative proposals

Romania is experiencing significant political shifts as the AUR party maintains a dominant lead in recent polling. According to INSCOP Research, AUR holds approximately 39.7% of voter preferences, significantly ahead of the PSD (18.7%) and PNL (16.3%). Political leaders, including PSD's Claudiu Manda and Robert Negoiță, have discussed the potential for early elections and the possibility of future coalitions.

In Parliament, several legislative initiatives are moving forward. A project proposed by AUR seeks to mandate patriotism by imposing fines on officials who refuse to kiss the national flag during ceremonies and on media outlets that fail to provide dedicated programming. Additionally, the Chamber of Deputies has formed a working group to analyze reducing the total number of parliamentarians.

Other legislative discussions include AUR's proposal to limit the terms of heads of key public institutions, such as intelligence services, to two five-year mandates. Meanwhile, the PNL, USR, and AUR parliamentary groups have collectively called for the end of online voting in Parliament, advocating for a return to mandatory physical presence for all legislative sessions.
