Romania auto trade turnover shows mixed April 2026 trends

The Romanian National Institute of Statistics reported that in April 2026 the total turnover of the motor vehicle and motorcycle trade fell 9.5% compared with March 2026 on a raw basis and 2.9% when adjusted for working days and seasonality. Compared with April 2025, turnover rose 1.4% (raw) and 2.1% (adjusted).

Segment‑by‑segment, sales of vehicle parts and accessories dropped 11.9%, vehicle repair activities fell 9.5%, and vehicle sales declined 8.6%, while the motorcycle segment – parts, accessories, and repairs – grew 3.5% month‑on‑month. Over the full January‑April 2026 period, overall turnover increased 0.7% on a raw basis and 1.9% when seasonally adjusted, driven mainly by a 3.3% rise in vehicle sales and a 0.4% rise in parts sales. Annual declines were recorded for motorcycles, which fell 25.9% in turnover and 16.4% in repairs, and for vehicle repair services, down 3.2% year‑on‑year.
