Baccalaureate 2026 autumn session begins for 33,000 candidates

The 2026 Baccalaureate autumn session has commenced in Romania, with over 33,000 candidates registered for the examinations. The session includes approximately 22,000 current graduates and 11,000 from previous years.

Written exams began on Monday, August 10, with the Romanian Language and Literature test. This mandatory subject is common to all profiles and consists of three main parts: a text comprehension and argumentative essay section, a short literary text analysis, and a structured essay based on canonical works. The Ministry of Education is scheduled to publish the official marking schemes shortly after the exam.

The examination schedule continues through the week: Tuesday, August 11, features the mandatory profile subject (Mathematics for real/technological profiles or History for human/vocational profiles); Wednesday, August 12, covers elective subjects; and Thursday, August 13, is dedicated to native language tests for national minorities.

Initial results are expected to be posted by noon on August 18. Candidates may then request to view their papers and file appeals between August 18 and August 20. Final results for the autumn session are slated for announcement on August 24.
