Romania begins distribution of balnear treatment tickets
The distribution of balnear treatment tickets for 2026 has commenced, managed by the National House of Public Pensions (CNPP) and territorial pension houses. Over 50,000 tickets are allocated through treatment units under the CNPP administration.
Eligibility extends beyond pensioners to include individuals insured in the public system, beneficiaries of special laws, and those insured for occupational accidents or diseases. Under certain conditions, spouses of pensioners or insured persons may also benefit. While some categories must pay an individual contribution, others—such as war veterans, political persecuted persons, and certain individuals with disabilities—may receive treatment free of charge.
Allocation is not automatic for all applicants. Instead, it is determined by a mathematical score based on criteria such as the type of pension, gross pension amount, and whether the individual has received treatment in the last two years. Additionally, the capacity of the resorts plays a decisive role in selection.
For the September series, two stages are scheduled: the first series begins on September 2, and the second series begins on September 18. Because administrative procedures vary by county, applicants should consult their local territorial pension house for specific calendars and required documentation.
