Romania closes Bacău bypass and A10 Sebeş‑Turda highway for construction and safety work
The Bacău bypass (Varianta Ocolitoare Bacău) will be temporarily closed from 15 July to 31 August 2026 to allow a connection with the new sections of the A7 motorway under construction. During this period traffic will be rerouted onto DN 2, and drivers are urged to plan journeys in advance to avoid congestion.
On the A10 Sebeş‑Turda highway, a landslide at kilometre 66 forced a closure. CNAIR director Cristian Pistol said that diverting traffic onto an adjacent lane would be unsafe, stating “Siguranţa nu se negociază” (“Safety is not negotiable”). The road will remain closed until a favourable geotechnical report is issued, with the constructor covering all repair costs.
