Romania commemorates Mamaia's 120th anniversary and Peleș Castle history
Romania marks significant historical milestones through cultural commemorations in Mamaia and Sinaia. In Mamaia, the 120th anniversary of the resort's official inauguration is being celebrated. Organized by the National History and Archaeology Museum of Constanța, events include a guided tour led by Dr. Cristian Cealera and an outdoor photo-documentary exhibition titled ‘Mamaia – 120 de veri, o singură poveste’. The exhibition features photographs, postcards, and historical documents detailing the evolution of the coastal area between the Black Sea and Siutghiol Lake.
In Sinaia, historical records highlight the foundation of Peleș Castle, which began on August 10, 1875, under King Carol I. To mark the occasion, gold coins featuring the King's likeness were buried beneath the foundation. The castle, built between 1873 and 1914, remains one of Romania's most prominent historical monuments and royal residences, noted for its eclectic architecture and modern amenities for its era.
