Romania debuts tourism promotion at BBC Proms

Romania is being promoted as a tourist and cultural destination for the first time at the BBC Proms. Throughout the 2026 festival, which features 63 concerts, a page titled ‘Discover Romania’ is included in the official brochure for every event.

The campaign is supported by Romania’s Ministry of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship, and Tourism, alongside the Romanian Cultural Institute in London. This promotional effort coincides with the debut of pianist Alexandra Dariescu at the festival. Dariescu, the first Romanian female pianist to perform at the Royal Albert Hall during the BBC Proms, performed Nadia Boulanger’s ‘Fantasy for Piano and Orchestra’ on August 5 alongside the Hallé Orchestra conducted by Kahchun Wong.

Alin Grigore, Director General of the Tourism Directorate, stated that the presence at the festival is an opportunity to share Romania’s culture, heritage, and unique locations with an international audience to inspire travel to the country.
