Romania defeats Brazil 27-26 in World Rugby Junior Challenger opener

Romania defeated Brazil 27-26 in their opening match of the World Rugby Junior Challenger held in Santiago, Chile.

Brazil initially led 16-15 at halftime following a try by Rafael Jesus and penalties from Isac Lopes. Romania responded in the second half with tries from Dragoș Tatomir and a second from Alexandru Boldor. Although Túlio Oliveira scored a second try for Brazil to briefly reclaim the lead, Romania’s late try secured a four-point advantage. Brazil managed to close the gap to a single point via a late penalty by Isac Lopes, but could not overtake the Romanians.

Romania's scoring included tries from Alexandru Boldor, Edward Brășnean, and Dragoș Tatomir. Brazil's efforts were highlighted by tries from Daniel Caetano and Túlio Oliveira, alongside three successful penalties by Isac Lopes.
