Romania disrupts drug trafficking operation using deceptive spiritual rituals
Romanian authorities have disrupted a drug trafficking operation in Hunedoara that utilized deceptive distribution methods. Interim Interior Minister Cătălin Predoiu reported that traffickers were using the guise of “spiritual rituals” and “apparent harmless therapies” to intoxicate citizens with high-risk drugs. The operation was conducted by anti-drug police in cooperation with DIICOT prosecutors.
In a separate push for drug prevention, George Drăgan, president of the Tomis Antidrog Constanța Association, has called for the urgent adoption of a national package consisting of 10 legislative and educational measures to protect children and youth. Proposed measures include mandatory modules on the effects of alcohol and drugs for driving license candidates, specialized training for school security personnel, and the introduction of mandatory prevention spots in cinemas.
