Romanian Bacalaureat 2026 results published, promotion rate rises to 76.9%

Interim Education Minister Mihai Dimian announced that the evaluation of the contested Bacalaureat 2026 papers has been completed and technical steps – data transfer, platform population and final report verification – are underway. The Ministry posted the definitive results on 12 July 2026, a day earlier than scheduled.

The final figures show that the national promotion rate increased from 74.8 % to 76.9 %, with 97 020 candidates passing. Seventy students achieved a perfect 10, and 55 454 contestations were filed – the highest in five years – of which 96.6 % led to a change in grade. County‑level data indicate that Cluj topped the list with a 91.4 % promotion rate, followed by Brașov and Brăila; the capital Bucharest recorded a 86 % rate.

The Ministry’s communications emphasized the difficult context of the exam, citing previous‑year measures, attempts to boycott simulations, strikes, organisational challenges and record‑high June temperatures, while thanking teachers and staff for maintaining focus on students.
