Romania educational updates: Application schools and new after-school programs
New educational arrangements have been approved for the 2026-2027 school year in Romania. In Argeș County, the Ministry of Education has maintained the status of eight application schools. This includes the Carol I National Pedagogical College in Câmpulung, which serves as the sole pedagogical profile application school in the region. Other designated units in Argeș include several colleges and schools located in Pitești, which will serve as bases for pedagogical practice and teaching mentorship for a five-year period.
In Bucharest, the Sector 6 Local Council has approved the ‘School after School’ program for the upcoming academic year. The initiative provides over 6,000 available spots across 27 state educational units. The program offers activities lasting between three and four hours daily. Participation is free for children receiving social scholarships. For other families, a co-payment system is in place, with costs varying based on the number of children enrolled and subject to monthly caps.
