Romania Environment Minister reports budget and management issues at ANM
Environment Minister Natalia Intotero has highlighted significant operational challenges at the National Meteorological Administration (ANM). According to the minister, the institution has operated without a budget for 2026 for ten months and has been hindered by an incomplete Board of Directors.
Intotero noted that staff at meteorological stations are working under unacceptable conditions, citing degraded buildings, outdated equipment, and insufficient personnel. While the budget was approved during a government meeting on October 30, the minister emphasized the need for the Board of Directors to immediately identify solutions for staffing and infrastructure investments.
Additionally, a control report regarding a procurement scandal within the ANM has been referred to the Prosecutor's Office and the Court of Accounts for further investigation.
